Merchant's description

The 1996 vintage produced superb Cabernet Franc for Château Cheval Blanc, and it makes up most of the final blend. The deep, brilliant, ruby-red colour has a brownish-red rim showing the wine’s age. Although the nose seems rather closed at first, it opens up to reveal complex aromas of blackcurrants, brandy, vanilla and some oak. The wine starts out powerful and elegant on the palate. The tannins are luscious, but fine-grained, and the fruity flavours go into quite a long aftertaste that remains fresh.
