Merchant's description

Clos de Tart 2007 is a full-bodied Burgundy red wine from the Grand Cru climat of Clos de Tart in the Morey-Saint-Denis appellation of the Côte de Beaune. With a rich heritage dating back to the 12th century, Clos de Tart is an iconic domaine based on a single grand cru monopole vineyard situated in Morey-Saint-Denis. In 2017, the French holding company Groupe Artemis announced that it acquired the 7.53-hectare estate that was previously owned by the Mommessin family. This is the flagship cuvée from domaine, expressing the very essence of the old vines on the estate, most of which are 60 years old on average. "The 2007 Clos de Tart Grand Cru was picked at 27hl/ha from September 6 with 13.66° alcohol, and matured in new oak for 18 months. It is consistent with the style of the vintage – relatively light compared to the “grumpy” 2006, offering vivacious cranberry, crushed strawberry and red currant fruit that intermingles with subtle oyster shell aromas. The palate is replete with sappy red fruit and, like before, there is a subtle Oriental element to this 2007. just a splash of sweet and sour toward the fleshy, smooth finish. One of Pitiot’s more approachable offerings." Vinous, 2019
