Merchant's description

Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant but best to open it an hour before service. Located in Santa Margarita, San Luis Obispo County, the Californian winery Lapis Luna was founded in 1999. Led by winemaker Nicole Walsh, the winery focuses on creating easy-drinking, fruit-forward wines that reflect the diversity of California's terroirs. Their name (which translates from Latin as "stone" and "moon") and their labels, inspired by the Belgian poet Herman Hugo, reflect the brand's creativity and aspiration to strive for the best. The Pinot Noir grapes come from the Mendocino area on California's North Coast. After vinification, the finished wine rests for 6 months in French oak barrels (40% new) before bottling. Lapis Luna Pinot Noir is an expressive and elegant wine that shows a broad and fragrant aromatic profile with notes of cherry, raspberry, and strawberry, followed by floral and spicy hints. On the palate, the wine is fresh and energetic, juicy and generous. It has smooth tannins and a vibrant acidity that refreshes and lingers on the long, fruity finish. This is an extremely food-friendly wine; try it with glazed salmon, pork stew, guinea fowl, or shitake mushroom risotto.
