The 1999 growing season began with cool temperatures, leading to delayed budbreak. Rains in spring reduced flower counts, focusing the flavours. Moderate summer temperatures enabled the fruit to mature evenly. The finish of this vintage is notable for its structure, featuring plum, cherry and black pepper. Opus One, founded by Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild, is synonymous with fine wines in Napa.
