Merchant's description

The 1979 vintage marked the first release of Opus One, a joint venture between pioneering Californian winemaker Robert Mondavi and the late Baron Philippe de Rothschild. The 2003 is a blend of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon with the addition of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Malbec. It is a wonderful wine with remarkable purity of primary black fruits but is now beginning to reveal deeper, more savoury, complexity.
