Les Pagodes de Cos is the second wine of Château Cos d`Estournel, made from a similar blend led by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The 2016, from an excellent Saint-Estèphe vintage had 30% new oak and offers smoky, blackcurrant, morello cherry and cocoa aromas. Medium-bodied and silky-textured, the palate is bright with red and black fruit and a spicy, crisp finish. Approachable already, it should drink well for the next decade or so.
