Petrus 1994
Petrus 1994 is a dry, very full-bodied red from Merlot, Cabernet Franc (Pomerol, France), in the full, structured reds style. Tannins are firm and acidity moderate; oak influence is some. Those scales describe the wine when young; this is a 32-year-old bottle and its tannin and oak will have softened. Good with roast chicken, roast pork, bolognese, charcuterie. No merchant in this catalogue lists it now; Hedonism Wines last did on 2026-10-01.

Pétrus 1994 is a mature-vintage, Merlot-based red wine from the Pomerol appellation of Bordeaux. Pétrus is often considered the pinnacle of the Pomerol appellation and is undoubtedly one of the most revered wines in the world. The style of Pétrus is unique and in the best vintages it often achieves levels of aromatic complexity, richness and silky texture that others simply cannot. It is an exceptionally long-lived wine and can often require significant cellaring before reaching maturity and expressing its true essence. "Opague purple/black colour, with a sweet vanilla, toasty, jammy cherry, and cassis nose, this full-bodied, densely packed wine reveals layers of flavour and an inner core of sweetness with huge quantities of glycerin and depth. A tannic, classic style of Pétrus, with immense body, great purity, and a backward finish, this wine will be at its apogee between 2006 and 2035." Robert Parker, 2003
