Drink it now or cellar for up to 25 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Founded in the late 80s, the Poggio di Sotto winery has been part of the Colle Massari group since 2011, together with Castello Colle Massari and the Grattamacco estate in Bolgheri. The company, which extends over 16 hectares of vineyards, produces Brunello wines of the highest quality, considered among the best ever. Brunello di Montalcino Poggio di Sotto is produced with Sangiovese grapes coming from the Castelnuovo dell'Abate area, in the DOCG production area of Montalcino, in Val d'Orcia. The vineyards benefit from a soil rich in skeleton and an altitude between 200 and 450 meters above sea level. Winemaking takes place in the traditional way, with long macerations and the use of wooden vats for fermentation. The finished wine is then aged for 48 months in oak barrels and another 8 months in the bottle. The wine reveals a beautiful, bright, ruby-red color. Its aromatic profile is intense and elegant, with notes of red flowers and red fruit jam. There are also some traces of spices. On the palate, it is powerful but very well balanced, with firm but ripe tannins and a strong acid streak well balanced by a pleasant fruity intensity. It is young and exuberant but can already be enjoyed with game or red meat goulash or it can be left in the cellar for a few more years.
