Romanee-Conti, the tiny (1.81 ha) monopole at the heart of Vosne-Romanee, is Burgundy`s (and thus the world`s) most revered Pinot Noir. The 2011 vintage, from a cooler, more challenging year, delivers a precise, focused bouquet of crushed strawberry, flint and smoke. The palate is smooth with red berries and subtle earthiness, framed by lace-like tannins and perfectly judged acidity. Elegance rather than power defines this vintage, though it still has real ageing potential. Best from 2027, drinking well to 2035 and beyond. Only 5676 bottles made.
