Gaja Sperss 2008 is a full-bodied, structured declassified Barolo produced by the legendary winemaker Angelo Gaja. Sperss is the top Nebbiolo of the Gaja estate and perfectly represents the powerful, structured wines of the Marenca and Rivette vineyards in Serralunga d’Alba. "This has a crazy intensity with a big hit of new wood but loads of ripe yet subtle fruit, from plums to dark berries. Full and chewy with round tannins and a long, persistent finish. Turns to liquorice and spice in the aftertaste." James Suckling, 2012
