Troplong Mondot 1994 is a dry, very full-bodied red from Merlot, Cabernet Franc (Saint-Émilion, France), in the rich, smooth reds style. Tannins are moderate and acidity moderate; oak influence is some. Good with roast chicken, roast pork, bolognese, charcuterie. Château Troplong Mondot is amongst the finest producers in St-Émilion and earned the second-highest classification of Premier Grand Cru Classé (B) in 2006 after many years of consistently excellent releases. Though not a blockbuster year, 1994 signalled the end of a run of poor vintages in the early 90s and those on the earlier ripening Right Bank fared better, producing wines of both concentration and elegance. This is now fully mature and ready to drink.
