Merchant's description

Blandy’s Bual 1969 is a medium-rich fortified wine from the island of Madeira. This Bual spent over 40 years in American oak casks within the canteiro system before being bottled in 2013. The Blandy family oversaw the gradual movement of these casks through varying temperature zones to achieve a refined oxidation. The wine offers a profile that avoids any cloying sensation due to the magnificent streak of lemon and lime acidity characteristic of the vintage. Aromatics of toasted hazelnuts, marmalade and a wisp of wood smoke lead into a palate of great linear intensity. The finish is remarkably long, displaying a savoury, spicy complexity with notes of dried dates and a persistent mineral grip.
