Situated in the Saint-Estèphe appellation, Château Montrose is a Second Growth producer known for its elegant and age-worthy wines. The 1996 vintage is a blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. The wine is beautifully nuanced, combining sweet pipe tobacco, saddle leather, red cherries, hints of vanilla and white pepper. The tannins are nicely resolved, and the finish is long. Enjoy it now.
