Vega Sicilia`s Alión 1999 is a full-bodied red wine from Spain`s Ribera del Duero region, crafted entirely from Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) grapes. This vintage underwent fermentation in wooden vats, followed by 14 months of ageing in new French oak barrels. On the nose, it presents aromas of blueberry and blackberry, intertwined with notes of creosote, tar, liquorice, and earth. The palate is medium to full-bodied, offering sweet fruit flavours balanced by well-integrated tannins. Alión reflects a modern expression of Ribera del Duero, distinct from its sister wines at Vega Sicilia, yet upholding the estate`s renowned quality.
