Merchant's description

Haut-Brion 1928 is a historic vintage of this Pessac Premier Grand Cru Classé, produced during the transitional ownership of André Gibert. This vintage emerged from a growing season defined by extreme summer heat and drought, conditions that resulted in thick-skinned berries and one of the most structurally powerful wines in the estate`s history. While the property was acquired by Clarence Dillon in 1935, this bottling captures the terroir under the stewardship of Georges Delmas, who introduced significant improvements during the 1920s. The fruit originates from the high gravel terraces of Graves, where a high percentage of Merlot for a First Growth typically provides roundness, yet the 1928 is distinguished by massive concentration.
